AVWS Board of Directors


In accordance with the Public Trustee for Charitable Organizations, Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is governed by a Board of Directors. The Directors are responsible for ensuring that the Sanctuary functions in accordance with the Minimum Standards dictated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the other governing agencies under which the Sanctuary is obliged to operate.


 

Paul Harris

Chairman
  Paul is licensed by the Law Society of Upper Canada and is the co-owner of a Professional Corporation providing legal services. He is also a free-lance writer, and for several years was an authorized wildlife rehabilitator.


 

Ed Brown

Secretary
Ed has a long association with Aspen Valley. He is retired and now works on a voluntary basis at Aspen, doing whatever needs doing.


 

Deborah Harris

Treasurer
Deb is a social worker, a former wildlife rehabilitator, and the Chair of the board for a not-for-profit agency providing support to developmentally and psychiatrically challenged adults.


 

Audrey Tournay

Member
Audrey is a former high school teacher, a world-renowned expert in the care of beavers, and the founder of Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. In 2004, Audrey was honoured for her work, along with chimpanzee expert Jane Goodall, by the International Fund for Animal Welfare.


 

Alexander Donald

Member
Sandy has been associated with Aspen Valley over many years, primarily as a friend of the Sanctuary. He has helped with the transportation of many animals, particularly raccoons. Sandy is the owner of a print services company and a separate publishing company.
