Orphaned Deer Being FedDeer gracefully move through the meadows, leaping as much as 6 meters in one bound. They are constantly on the alert for predators using their keen sense of hearing and smell to detect danger. Winter is a particularly difficult time for them especially when the snow is deep which makes it difficult to get around and to find food. The does hide their fawns when they are born in May and June for a few weeks until they are fast enough to run with the herd.
