Support is So Necessary!
We could not do our work so well without the support of so many local people and organizations. I write weekly columns for two local newspapers – The Muskokan, Bracebridge, and the North Star Beacon, Parry Sound – that so many people are interested in and are kept aware of the work. Golf tournaments, dances, dinners and auctions are held several times a year which is all possible through donations– and the proceeds help us feed the hungry animals! Every fall, the Parry Sound North Star publishes an entire paper, which deals with only the Sanctuary, and they send out to all of their subscribers.
A wonderful couple, who run Beaver Press and Print Plus, make a huge contribution by donating our letterhead and envelopes and any other printing supplies we require for the endless office work. Sobey’s in Parry Sound have been donating the ex-dated meat to the Sanctuary to help feed our hungry wolves, coyotes and foxes. For 15 years they have been supporting the necessary diet to keep them strong and healthy. Ross Window’s and Doors are wonderful in our time of need when constructing buildings that need the natural light of our Muskoka sun. The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens send a zookeeper up to the Sanctuary every year to help volunteer. Their knowledge and experience offers us valuable help that is so appreciated. Hirsh Log Homes has given their support of our work with wildlife by donating building that we are able to use to construct aviaries, and nurseries to give the animals a safe and secure housing environment for years to come.
The local contributions to the Sanctuary are so encouraging and deeply appreciated. As the human population continues to grow, putting such pressure on our wildlife, and as we have more creatures coming in, and need more staff, our need for help increases. Most of all, we need and genuinely value the help given – again, our privilege is actually knowing the creatures, our realization is that you make it possible.
