November 22, 2008 will always be remembered by all of those associated with Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. It was on this date that CTV W5 broadcasted the documentary, Rescuing the Wild. As a result of this broadcast, literally 1 million people became exposed to the important work we do here at Aspen Valley. In the year following the original broadcast and then a re broadcast, it is nothing short of remarkable the number of people that have come to care more about the conflict our wildlife face everyday as a result of human encroachment and how Aspen Valley responds to meet the needs of our native wildlife. The Sanctuary realized an enormous rise in public awareness and financial support, far beyond anyone’s expectations post broadcast and continues to this day. To CTV W5, Bret Mitchell and the entire crew involved with this wonderful event, thank you. Please know that we continue to rescue, rehabilitate and return to the wild the injured and orphaned wildlife of this province and shall continue to do so, due in a large part to the exposure and awareness we have gained which is directly attributable to your incredible production. As Audrey has always said and continues to say “It is all about the animals”. Thank you for helping in extending her message and reinforcing the legacy – Audrey’s legacy.
